Our key objectives:

1) In-Situ and ex-situ conservation

2) Establishment of a Biodiversity Reference centre

3) Documentation of Biodiversity, restoration of habitat and natural regeneration with community participation.

Our key objectives:

A) Maintaining a Data Base on vegetation diversity: This is being done along with valuable knowledge of elders of the tribal communities, which has enabled the establishment of the seed bank and forest nursery.

B) Seed bank and forest nursery: Initiated in 2002, these have the germ-plasm of about 150 species of indigenous flora of this region. Research continues in in-situ regeneration of indigenous and endangered species. The nursery saplings are used for afforestation in community land, and developing a botanical Sanctuary of indigenous flora in the Kaigal centre.

C) Documentation of traditional indigenous knowledge of the forest

D) Establishment of linkages with groups working in agro-forestry and wasteland regeneration and educational institutions.

E) Designing and implementation of Environment Education and awareness programmes for school and college students and local communities.
